MARSHA WOODY ACADEMY OF DANCE









Ms. Monique began her training from her mother, Marsha Woody Zummo, at the age of 4 and became a student assistant at sixteen. She has studied under renowned teachers such as Robert Joffrey, David Howard, and the late Alexandra Danilova, Stanley Williams, and John Magness to mention a few; she studied two summers in New York City including the prestigious School of American Ballet, home of the New York City Ballet. Monique became a Junior Company member of Beaumont Civic Ballet at the age of ten, performing in BCB’s firstNutcracker as a boy in Prologue, and later danced principal roles such as Snow Queen, Mirletons & Sugar Plum Fairy as a Senior Company member.
Interesting highlights include: modeling in Dallas at the Kim Dawson Agency while attending college; runner-up twice at the Miss Texas Pageant and won the “Best Talent Award” & “Swimsuit Award” each year; began teaching full time at the Academy in 1982; and won a scholarship award for outstanding choreography at SW Regional Ballet for continuing study at Sarah Lawrence University in New York. She was an active member of the Junior League of Beaumont for several years. She is now the Owner and Director of the MWAD, teaching all levels of dance, and also is Director of Beaumont Civic Ballet Co. She is married to Harvey Steinhagen III and has two adult sons, Landon and Dane and a beautiful daughter in-law, Abigail.

Ms. Megan at the age of 10, began her dance training at Marsha Woody Academy, was a Junior Company member with Beaumont Civic Ballet, became Ms. Monique’s assistant at 15, and never left! At the age of 16, she choreographed her first piece for Beaumont Civic Ballet, which was performed at the National Regional Dance America Festival. In 1996 through 1998, Megan received the Monticello Award for Excellence in Choreography and the Regional Dance America Award for Excellence in Choreography.
Megan choreographed Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, Cats & Twistin’ The Night Away, which have been extremely successful for BCB. She continues to teach all levels for the MWAD, besides teaching and choreographing as the Co-Director of Beaumont Civic Ballet Co. She is married to Elvis Anderson and has three boys, Samuel, Christopher and Garrett.

Ms. Tammy started her training at the Marsha Woody Academy at the age of 9 in all subjects and was a member of Beaumont Civic Ballet at 10. She has continued to be an active part of Beaumont Civic Ballet, performing in The Nutcracker, has choreographed for Beaumont Civic Ballet and the Regional Dance America, SW Festival. After Tammy got her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Baylor University she came to Beaumont and started her busy career.
Ms. Tammy’s love for dance brought her part time to MWAD right away upon her arrival in town. She has served as President of the Junior League of Beaumont, was a surgical nurse and general manager of St. Elizabeth Hospital OR, chief nurse of SETX Bariatric Center over 13 years, and now is an Administrative Pastor at Praise Church. She continues to choreograph and teach in the Academy and for Beaumont Civic Ballet on occasion. She is married to Tosh Anderud and has two children, Kyria and Tristan.

Miss Jayda started dancing at the age of 6 in the Praise Dance Ministry. She continued doing this throughout middle and high school. During her high school years she was a part of the Illusions Drill Team where she served as Captain her senior year and was a choreographer of hip-hop, jazz, pom, lyrical, and military all four years.
After graduating in 2019 she continued her love and passion for dance by coming to Beaumont where she is currently majoring in Theatre and Dance at Lamar University and dancing for the Lamar University Dance Team.

Miss Alyssa started dancing at the age of 3. Through the years she studied ballet, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, pointe, and acro. In 2010, she started competing in local and national competitions. She started dancing at Marsha Woody at 12 years old and soon joined BCB’s junior company. The following year, Alyssa was accepted into the Senior Company of BCB where she performed various corps and solo roles. In high school, she was on the Kelly Dance Force all four years and was captain her senior year. After graduating in 2019, she enrolled in Lamar University where she continues to take classes while also still dancing and is a teacher assistant at MWAD.

Miss Mac started at Marsha Woody Academy at the age of 3. She took Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz & Lyrical classes through her senior year graduating in 2015. She was a member of BCB’s Jr. Co. and later Sr. Co. dancing solo and principal roles. At West Brook she was on the Stars Drill Team for 3 years, serving as a lieutenant. When she graduated, she continued her drill team career as a Kilgore College Rangerette for 2 years. She then transferred to Lamar University, where she was an officer for the Lamar University Dance Team, and graduated in 2020 with a Bachelors in Studio Art Education. She will be attending New York University beginning Fall 2021 to pursue her Masters in Museum Studies while working remotely as our MWAD PR Specialist!

Ms. Ouida was trained as a dancer under Miriam Widman. She has been associated with Marsha Woody Academy since 1985 as secretary; she also substitutes teaches in the academy the Jr. & Sr. tap classes. She serves as costume coordinator and is the Administrative Assistant for Beaumont Civic Ballet. Ms. Ouida has a Bachelor of Business and Education degree from Lamar University. She is married to Wesley Broussard and has 2 adult children, Wes and Trisha.

Ms. Teri has been associated with Marsha Woody Academy since 2002. She served on the Beaumont Civic Ballet board from 2005-2015, and assisted Ms. Ouida with costuming and other tasks during that time. Ms. Teri owns and operates her own sewing and embroidery business, Bibs, Bloomers and More, which was founded in 2003. She is married to Tim Ocnaschek, and has three adult daughters Angela, Lauren, and Sara who danced at Marsha Woody Academy as well as performed with Beaumont Civic Ballet throughout their childhood.
